Precision Balls

Polypropylene Balls

Polypropylene Balls

General Information:
Polypropylene Balls have low specific weight, good stability and abrasion resistance and very low water absorption. They are used in fluid level gauges, flowmeters, non-return valves and similar applications where a combination of low cost, light weight and corrosion resistance is required.
Basic Composition:
Hoechst 'Hostalen PP'
Mechanical Properties:
Hardness 100 Shore 'D'
Density 0.034 lbs/cub.in.
Specific Gravity 0.950
Max. Useful Temperature 80 Deg.C (176 Deg.F)
Colour Green
Size Range:
Imperial 1/8" to 3/4" inclusive (stock sizes)
Metric 6mm to 40mm to special order
Tolerances: Up to 3/8" over 3/8" to 1" over 1"
Basic Dia.Tolerance ±.001" ±.004" ±.006"
Sphericity .001" .004" .006"
Corrosion Resistance:
Polypropylene has good chemical resistance except against concentrated Sulphurous, Nitric and Chloric acids and halogens. Contact with copper, manganese and cobalt and their alloys should be avoided as it affects stability at elevated temperatures.
